Recognized as the premier Northeast conference for cyber security education, the event is co-hosted by the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services' Office of Cyber Security (OCS), The New York State Forum, Inc. and the University at Albany's School of Business and College of Computing and Information. The event draws approximately 1,000 professionals each year to the Capital Region.

Melissa Hathaway will open the Conference with her perspective as a strategic advisor to private sector companies such as Cisco and Core SecurityTechnologies, as well as the US Government and Interpol. Lance Spitzner, SANS co-founder of the Honeynet project, will lead a session building high impact security and awareness programs. MIE Launches Communication and Marketing Services

March 3, 2012

MIE launches new Marketing and Communication services as part of its slate of meeting and conference planning services. In addition to offering site selection, meeting management, registration, hotel negotiations, speaker coordination and exhibit and sponsorship coordination, MIE will offer to help clients improve the bottom line on their events through additional activities.

"More and more clients are asking us to incorporate Communication and Marketing services as part of our conference and event packages," says Brigitte Connors-Mare, MIE's President and CEO. "The client wants to avoid going back and forth between us and a marketing firm. We work with the conference details day in and out and can save time and money by adding the communication tasks related to the conference into our services." In cases where the client has in-house resources, MIE can still assist by creating the task list and timeline appropriate for the activities.

MIE Communication and Marketing Services include:

  • Setting up timelines and task lists related to communication and marketing activities;
  • Creating email templates and print outreach pieces such as 'Save The Date,' postcard mailers, invitations, and more;
  • Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining a social media presence for the conference;
  • Promoting and managing event sponsorship and exhibit space sales;
  • Ensuring the conference or event has brand consistency and works in concert with the client's organizational branding;
  • Finding opportunities for earned media coverage through a public relations strategy;
  • and
  • Advertising within the conference or event budget to reach the right audience targets.

Communication expert Kim Perone joined MIE in February to establish Communications and Marketing services offered to clients. "We can ensure that we are properly branding an event while performing the necessary task such involved such as email outreach to prospective exhibitors, sponsors, and attendees, creating marketing mailers, social networking, garnering attention for articles in relevant media and placing conference advertisements -- all at a discount to clients. The synergy is tremendous," states Perone.

Perone's experience spans both the for- and not-for-profit sectors and includes marketing, public and media relations, and fund raising.

February 15, 2012

MIE is pleased to announce the hiring of Kim Perone to develop and lead the effort on a new Marketing and Communication service to clients. MIE's Heidi Longton Interviewed by Successful Meeting Magazine

August 31, 2011

MIE's Heidi Longton, Director of Client Operations, is interviewed by Successful Meeting magazine on the topic of what planners are looking for in a Convention and Visitors' Bureau (CVB).

"We have to create an experience as well as a meeting, and that's created by what goes on outside of the education, reception, and convention hall," says Longton to reporter Marshall Krantz. The article notes three main points of advice for CVBs: find a new meetings niche, focus on the total package, and be clear about your role.

Heidi Longton has been with Meeting Industry Experts since 2009 and is an MPI Accredited Trainer.
